Rennie Harris Puremovement comes to Nazareth for an evening concert and school matinee performance on January 28. The Nazareth College Arts Center presents the hip-hop; concert dance super stars at 8 p.m. with a pre-performance lecture at 7 p.m. in A-14 of the Arts Center given by FuturPointe Dance company co-director and dancer Guy Thorne (formerly of Garth Fagan Dance). Nazareth College Arts Center will also host a Rennie Harris Puremovement school matinee performance on the “History of Hip-Hop” on January 28 at 10 a.m. This lecture demonstration is moderated by senior members of the company and introduces audiences to personalities who influenced or invented various techniques or styles that have contributed to the hip-hop culture. Rennie Harris Puremovement was founded fifteen years ago by Rennie Harris based on the belief that hip-hop is the most important original expression of a new generation that has impacted youth culture worldwide. Rennie Harris was also awarded a 2010 Guggenheim Fellowship.
