Kids Club

Kids Club is an after-school, interdisciplinary wellness program for children with special needs. Research clearly identifies a gap in appropriate fitness activities for children with special health care needs, as well as negative long-term effects of a sedentary lifestyle. This program provides enjoyable wellness activities for school-age children. It does not provide additional therapy services.

Potential Clients

Kids Club is for children ages 5 to 12 with developmental disabilities such as cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, apraxia, autism spectrum disorders, and global developmental delays. Nazareth students can provide additional support to ensure success; however, children must meet the following enrollment criteria:

  • Express basic needs through verbal or non-verbal communication
  • Able to participate in small group activities with peers
  • Follow simple directions
  • Use the bathroom independently or not need to be changed during the session
Session Schedule

Kids Club meets one time per week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Each session lasts for approximately seven weeks in both the fall and spring semesters.

Student Clinicians

Kids Club is organized and run by graduate level physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, social work, music therapy, and art therapy students with supervision from licensed faculty and community-based therapists who work in pediatrics.

Eligibility and Fees

Kids Club appreciates a voluntary donation of $20 to cover materials.

Location

The Kids Club takes place in the Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute on the Nazareth campus. Parking is convenient to the clinic and accessible.

Parking

Clinic parking spaces are located in front of the York Institute building and in G Lot at the end of the building. You will receive a parking pass before you begin therapy or at your first session. Please make sure it's visible on your dashboard while you're parked on campus. If you receive a parking ticket, let your clinic supervisor know.
