Today, 98 percent of Nazareth students receive some form of financial assistance to attend the College. Many students work one or even two jobs, or take out substantial loans to finance their education. National studies show that long hours of employment have an adverse impact on academic performance. You can help our students make the most of their Nazareth education by supporting student financial aid in one of two ways:

1. Annual Scholarship Assistance

Your annual gift to Nazareth College can be designated toward student financial aid to benefit the student immediately. When making your gift, simply indicate on the online gift form, gift envelope or check that you would like your annual gift to be used for student financial aid. Your contribution will be added to the financial aid budget to provide assistance to students for the current fiscal year.

2. Establish an Endowed Scholarship

One of the most meaningful ways alumni, parents and friends can help Nazareth students is through an endowed or permanent scholarship. Gifts to endowed scholarships are invested, with a portion of the interest awarded each year, so that they provide scholarship assistance in perpetuity.

Endowed scholarships are opportunities to honor a family or corporate name, memorialize a loved one or commemorate a special event.

Scholarship donors have the opportunity to meet the recipient of their scholarship at the annual Scholarship Reception held during the fall semester. Additionally, the names of all endowed scholarships are listed on a plaque located in Smyth Hall.

The minimum level to endow a scholarship at Nazareth College is $25,000. With careful planning, a gift this size is possible for almost anyone. Our staff is willing to work with you and/or your financial advisor to design a plan for giving that meets your financial needs.

  • Endowed gifts can be established through outright gifts of cash, a gift of securities or stock, a bequest or other planned gift, or a combination of gifts.
  • Payment on $25,000 gifts toward endowments can be spread over a period of up to five years.
  • Classmates, family members or friends can also join together to establish a scholarship — an excellent way to make endowing a scholarship more affordable.
