Visit from Almost Maine Playwright Highlights Production at Nazareth, Feb. 17-19, 24-26

The Nazareth College Theatre Department is excited to present Almost, Maine during its 2011-2012 season. Almost, Maine takes place February 17, 18, 24, and 25 at 8:00 p.m., and February 19 and 26 at 2:00 p.m. All showings of the play take place in the Nazareth College Arts Center in Studio A48. Almost, Maine is a moving comic piece that tells the story of nineteen people in the woods of northern Maine, what Mainers call "the County."  ***Almost Maine's playwright John Cariani is leading a playwriting master class for the campus on Saturday, February 25th from 3-6 p.m. in A13 of the Arts Center, and he will then attend the  8 p.m. performance of the play at Nazareth. ***

Fans of NBC’s Law and Order may remember Cariani as CSU tech Julian Beck or as a physicist on the final season of CBS’ Numb3rs.  He also was nominated for a Tony Award for his role in the Broadway Revival of Fiddler on the Roof as Motel the Tailor.

The box office hours are Monday-Friday, 11:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at http://boxoffice.naz.edu. Tickets are $12 for adults, $11 for seniors, and $10 for students (Nazareth students are free).

The Nazareth College production of Almost, Maine, written by John Cariani, is being directed by Matt Ames, assistant professor of Theatre Arts at Nazareth. The cast consists of Kimberly Pantoliano of Union Springs, Francis Grunfeld of Worcester, Dimitar Kominovski of Webster, and Samantha Buckman of Fairport.

Nazareth College Department of Theatre Arts offers undergraduate programs in Theatre Arts, Theatre Arts with Adolescent Certification in English, Theatre Arts with Inclusive Education Certification, and Music Theatre.  The department presents an annual production season at the Nazareth College Arts Center each academic year.  Nazareth College was named one of the best college theaters in 2010 by The Princeton Review.  Its third year ranked among the top ten theater programs in the country.

Founded in 1924, Nazareth College is located on a close-knit, suburban campus in the dynamic, metropolitan region of Rochester, N.Y.
