Nazareth College is proud to announce that Margaret Cass Ferber, Nazareth’s vice president of finance and treasurer, was honored today by the Rochester Business Journal as Financial Executive of the Year in the non-profit category.
Ferber manages the finances of Nazareth College with a budget of $70 million for the 2010-11 fiscal year. While the past two years have been a challenge for Nazareth, thanks to Ferber and the financial team she leads, they have been less daunting than what other colleges have faced. She has helped craft budgetary responses to downturns in enrollment, a rise in the number of students seeking financial aid and a freeze in the capital market.
Outside of Nazareth, Ferber has lent her financial expertise to local and regional non-profit organizations. She served on the board of the National Association of College and University Business Officers and was board president for the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers.
Ferber also has served on investment advisory committees for the United Way of Greater Rochester, Inc., and the Hillside Family of Agencies, and she currently serves on the board of Chances & Changes, a domestic violence program in Livingston County.
