Nazareth College is pleased to announce that Hilda Chacon, associate professor of modern foreign languages, has been appointed to the Rose Marie Beston Chair for International Studies.
The Beston Chair is for a four-year term and is awarded to a Nazareth College faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in the teaching of subjects including, but not limited to, the languages, economies, political science and history of world regions, peoples and cultures. Responsibilities of the individual appointed to the Beston Chair include scholarly research in his or her professional field that will lead to published research and/or public presentation.
The selection committee included: Dr. Ed Wiltse, Dr. Estella Norwood Evans, Mr. Gary Nothnagle, Dr. Cindy McPhail, and Dr. Timothy Kneeland. Dr. Rose Marie Beston was president of Nazareth College from 1984-1998. She believed that the development of global viewpoints among Nazareth's faculty and students should be an increasingly critical requirement and a featured attraction of a Nazareth College education. In 1998, the Board of Trustees of Nazareth College established the Rose Marie Beston Chair to honor Dr. Beston's visionary leadership and the excellence of Nazareth's faculty.
