This exhibit depicts the inner life of Sicily, a land rich in history and art that never ceases to surprise us. It is a photographic journey through Sicilian culture and folklore, illustrating ancient and cherished religious traditions,  the centuries old popular representation of the Pupi Siciliani (handcrafted Sicilian marionettes), the production of artisans who work with wood, iron and textiles, the preparation of homemade foods; churches, monuments and their history, and the untouched and unspoiled beauty of central Sicily’s landscapes; the places that tourists never see. This collection will continue to grow and evolve. It is a never-ending journey that sheds ever clearer light on this Island and its image. Photographs by Antonino Riggio.

An opening reception and lecture will take place on Monday, March 18 at 4:30 p.m. in the Lorette Wilmot Library.
