Women and Gender Studies at Nazareth College provides a broad-based community for interdisciplinary scholarship and inquiry focusing on women, gender, and sexualities. The program critically examines historical and contemporary representations of femininity and masculinity across cultures and contexts.
Drawing from intersectional and transnational feminist theoretical frameworks, Women and Gender Studies analyzes gender as an organizing factor in social, political, and familial institutions and policy. Continuing in the field's activist tradition, our program addresses gender-specific social injustices and strives to initiate social change from local and global perspectives.
