I am so excited to be running for the Staff work life committee. I live for this type of thing! As a social worker I believe the foundation for building a strong community comes from the 4 C’s: coordination, collaboration, consistency and , most importantly, connection. I hope to bring my skills in these areas to our Nazareth community as a member of this committee.
I have had a plethora of experience with partnering with others on the development and implementation of social and educational events in both my professional and personal life. Some of these events include Emotional Wellness Week, Relaxation night, the family farewell for the PCELC and holiday parties at the Student Wellness. I was the Team Leader of the Shrinking Eagles for the Eat Well Live Well Challenge and introduced the “How Full Is Your Bucket” team building program for Student Wellness Center staff. In my personal life I have coordinated both large and small events including 2 neighborhood BUNCO groups, March Madness events as well as fundraisers for Bethany House and the Sisters for Success mentoring program.
I have so many ideas that I would love to bring to this committee such as : organizing Naz staff nights at WNY Flash or Amerks games, creating a staff cheering section for Nazareth sporting teams and offering opportunities for staff with school age children to have Naz sponsored “ family play dates” both on campus and in the community. Thank you for considering me with your vote to be a part of the Staff Work Life Committee

My name is April McCloud and I've been at Nazareth's Lorette Wilmot Library in a variety of part time capacities since 2008. Recently, I have taken on the position of Library Assistant and am enjoying being at the library in a full time capacity. As an undergrad I focused on English and History, later I received a masters degree here at Nazareth in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and then went back to school yet again for a Library Science degree from the University at Buffalo. My professional work history includes a generous tenure at Starbucks, a stint as a travel agent, and a sundry assortment of miscellaneous odd jobs over the years (many truly were odd). In my free time, I participate in a variety of shenanigans including martial arts, dance, and writing, and I enjoy spending time with my cat and reading (It's an occupational hazard).
I am interested in the Staff Work Life Committee because I care deeply about this community and the people who work here. I feel very strongly that with the number of hours we spend at work it is very important to strike a balance between professional and personal needs. More importantly though, with the resources on this campus we have the opportunity to create an environment that can help create a positive balance between work and personal life. There are many great things already being done by the committee and I believe that I could bring a variety of skills that would further help the team. I have a background in running and planning events, and my time in the corporate world focused on how to make small, positive shifts in working relations and perceptions of work life. Being an alumna as well as a long time staffer, I genuinely care about the campus community and would be delighted to be a representative of the Staff Work Life Committee.
My name is Stacey Shuryn and I am the Secretary to the Controller’s Department and I have been with Nazareth for a year so far. There’s so much I love about Nazareth! I have met a lot of great people that have really inspired me on so many different levels. One of my favorite loves here is Yoga! I have 3 children at home ages 11, 10, 5 who keep me very busy and I’m always searching for new and different ways to bring balance to my life. There are so many little things in life that could help bring balance to us. I think the Staff Work Life Committee works hard to bring us some of these moments that so many us need.
Some of my favorite events so far have been the Wellness Fair, Ice Cream Social, and especially Fall into Relaxation. I would like to be considered for the Staff Work Life Committee so I can help brainstorm and come up with ideas that could help bring balance to other people’s lives here at Nazareth! Thanks!
