"I find sociology is the underlying foundation for my leadership course.  I've learned and have tried to teach my students that in order to be an effective leader we must first understand the layers of ourselves, our experiences and what exactly we bring to interactions with others".

Professor Murray on homelessness

Dr. Harry Murray was recently featured on Connections with Evan Dawson to discuss homelessness in Western New York. Sociology looks behind the scenes to try to understand relationships between individuals and groups. Anthropology is the study of cultures across the boundaries of space and time. The interdisciplinary Social Science major integrates five academic disciplines -- Anthropology, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. While each program is different, all of them seek to foster an understanding and appreciation of the diversity among and within societies and cultures. In sum, they seek to prepare good world citizens.
