Student Leaders

Residential Life Student Leaders help to create inclusive and healthy communities on campus. They are key members of the Residential Life staff and support our students as they navigate the University experience.

NEW for the 2024-2025 academic year: We are replacing the traditional Resident Assistant (RA) role. We have looked at the growing demands asked of our RAs and know that change is needed. We have also looked at other models nationally.

We are hiring for two different Residential Life Student Leader roles:

The expected workload should be equal and the compensation free room & Freedom Naz meal plan for returning student staff and free room and half paid Freedom Naz meal plan for new student staff. The roles use one application, which is in the housing portal.

Time Commitment & Expectations

  • 15 hours per week, on average
  • You may take off one weekend every month
  • Bi-weekly 1-on-1s with your supervisor
  • Weekly staff meetings
  • Pre-semester trainings, mid-semester workshops, and late stay for hall closings are required

To ensure that you are available to residents and able to perform your duties, outside activities are limited to 15 hours a week (e.g. course overload, extracurricular activities, outside employment).

All four steps are required:

  1. Interest Session (choose one, listed below)
  2. Apply online (before or after an interest session)
  3. Individual Interview (sign up in the housing portal starting Feb. 8)
  4. Group Interview (sign up in the housing portal starting Feb. 8)
