The Department of Theatre Arts at Nazareth College is pleased to announce the appointment of Heather Roffe as Assistant Professor of Theatre in Dance. Roffe joins the Faculty Fall 2012. Theatre Arts Faculty, staff, and students welcome Heather.
Heather Roffe, who has a Master of Fine Arts degree, has taught dance on the faculties of Wells College, The College at Brockport, SUNY Potsdam, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and at St. John Fisher College. Roffe’s choreography has been presented in various venues across the country, and has been commissioned by both professional companies and dance programs. Roffe has performed nationally and internationally with the Garth Fagan Dance Company, and at venues such as Jacob’s Pillow, the International Dance Festival, and the American Dance Guild Festival in her own work, and with Bill Evans Dance Company, Assemblage Dance Company, and Burnidge-Clark Dance.
For the past two and a half years, she has directed, choreographed, performed and taught for FuturPointe Dance Company,* a contemporary fusion company based in Rochester. Prior to her graduate studies in Dance, Roffe also worked in Marketing, Sales, Fund-raising, and Event Planning, skills she will put to good use in her new role at Nazareth College.
"I'm excited about the opportunity to develop and strengthen the Dance offerings and cultivate the potential of all the wonderful programming and personnel already in place at Nazareth. I look forward to collaborating both within and outside of the Theatre Arts Department, and building a Dance program that has both strong roots and connections to other disciplines and the community," says Roffe.
