Nazareth College President Daan Braveman and other members of the Nazareth community joined Congresswoman Louise Slaughter on Friday, May 3, at Discovery Charter School for a time of celebration and to thank our community partners, in particular Discovery Charter School, for collaborating with Nazareth College in the education of our students while together working to strengthen our community. Nazareth recently was named the Presidential Awardee in the 2013 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll in the special focus area of Innovation in Early Childhood Education. The distinction is the highest honor a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning, and civic engagement. Nazareth was one of five institutions receiving the Presidential Award, but the only college receiving it for early childhood education.
Founded in 1924, Nazareth College is located on a close-knit, suburban campus in the dynamic, metropolitan region of Rochester, N.Y. The College offers challenging academic programs in the liberal arts and sciences and professional programs in health and human services, education, and management. Nazareth's strong cultures of service and community prepare students to be successful professionals and engaged citizens. The College enrolls approximately 2,000 undergraduate students and 1,000 graduate students.
