Read-A-Thon to benefit Teen Book Festival, Oct. 15

Nazareth College students are joining teens around the Rochester area to take part in this year’s Rochester’s Teen Book Festival Read-A-Thon to help raise money in efforts to keep the festival free for thousands of teens. The Read-A-Thon takes place on Saturday, October 15, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Pittsford Barnes & Noble, Pittsford Plaza, 3349 Monroe Avenue, Rochester, N.Y., 14618. All teens around Rochester are welcome to take part and just need to raise a minimum of $20 in pledges. For more information, please contact Laura Jones at or Stephanie Squicciarini at (585) 223-9091. Nazareth College is hosting the 7th Annual Teen Book Festival 2012 on May 19, 2012.  Visit for more details.

Featured author Charles Benoit will also participate in this Read-A-Thon. He will be at Barnes & Noble from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. In this time, he will do a reading and book signing. Benoit, a local Rochester author and Nazareth alumnus, has a new book that is to be published before the next Teen Book Festival. For more information on Benoit, visit his website at .

During the Read-A-Thon, teens will be participating by reading for the four hours. If participants raise $7,777.00 for the festival, in honor of the 7th anniversary, they will vote on what challenge Teen Book Festival founder and chair Stephanie Squicciarini will undertake this year. Last year, 75 readers took part in this fundraiser and raised $6,666.00, teens voted and challenged Squicciarini to dye her hair pink.
