The 29th Congressional District Debate, Oct. 26

Nazareth College is proud to announce it is hosting a 29th Congressional District debate between candidates Tom Reed (R) and Matt Zeller (D) on Tuesday, October 26, from 7 – 8 p.m. in the Callahan Theater of the Nazareth College Arts Center. It is open to the public.  Voters can also meet the candidates the hour before the debate in the Arts Center Lobby, as well as after the debate. Nazareth College is located at 4245 East Avenue, Rochester, N.Y. 14618.  The debate is the first-ever on the Nazareth campus, and is being organized entirely by students in the “Campaigns, Voters and Elections” political science class taught by Dr. Timothy Kneeland. It is also the first time the candidates will debate in the Rochester area in front of a live audience before the election.

Republican Tom Reed, 38, is a former mayor of Corning and a lawyer and small-business owner. Democrat Matt Zeller, 28, served nine months with the New York Army National Guard in Afghanistan and worked for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) before moving to Victor to run for Congress.

Founded in 1924, Nazareth College is located on a close-knit, suburban campus in the dynamic, metropolitan region of Rochester, N.Y. The College offers challenging academic programs in the liberal arts and sciences and professional programs in health and human services, education, and management. Nazareth's strong cultures of service and community prepare students to be successful professionals and engaged citizens. The College enrolls approximately 2,000 undergraduate students and 1,000 graduate students.
