Young Adult Author Terry Trueman at Nazareth, Oct. 19

As part of the Greater Rochester Teen Read Week, Nazareth College’s School of Education has invited author Terry Trueman to speak in the Shults Center Forum on Tuesday, October 19, at 4 p.m. It is open to the public. For more information, please contact Dr. Laura Jones, (585) 389-2634. Nazareth College is located at 4245 East Avenue, Rochester, N.Y. 14618.  Trueman was selected as this year’s Greater Rochester Teen Read author, and teen librarians across Monroe County are encouraging everyone to read the same books by Trueman: Stuck in Neutral and Cruise Control. The novels are companion books about the same events told by two very different characters. Trueman’s visit to Nazareth is one of the special events being hosted throughout the area during the Teen Read Week Celebration, Oct. 17-23.

Trueman has received national acclaim for his young adult novels. His novel, Stuck In Neutral, was a Printz Honor recipient in 2001. During his talk, there will be shared insights and reflections on the themes of identity construction and social acceptance in young adult literature.
