Nazareth Welcomes Ian Mortimer as New Vice President for Enrollment Management

Nazareth College is pleased to announce that Ian Mortimer will become the college’s new vice president for enrollment management starting in mid-December 2013. Mortimer comes to Nazareth with 20 years experience in higher education enrollment management and marketing.

“Being a native of Rochester, I have known, and always admired, the role that Nazareth plays in transforming the lives of both traditional and adult students," said Mortimer.  "However, it wasn’t until I met with the faculty, staff and leadership that I became aware of just how many amazing opportunities are made available in all facets of the Nazareth experience.  I am truly looking forward to joining Nazareth’s inclusionary community.”

Daan Braveman, Nazareth College President, said "I and the entire Nazareth community are very excited that Ian will be joining the College and bringing his experience and many talents."

Mortimer currently serves as vice president for enrollment management at Champlain College in Burlington, Vt., where he leads all facets of the undergraduate and graduate enrollment operation.  During his tenure at Champlain the college has experienced significant enrollment growth, has risen in market position, and has become more accessible to under-served populations. Mortimer feels he is leaving the college with lots of momentum for the challenges of the future.  “Success at Champlain has been grounded in collaboration, innovation and being mindful of what students and parents need in the 21st century,” Mortimer said.  “I see many similar opportunities at Nazareth that will further position the College as one of the nation’s most student-centric institutions and I am looking forward to the work that will attract and graduate the next generation of responsible leaders.”

Mortimer began his career in college admissions at St. Bonaventure University, along with American University and Walden University, before moving into higher education client services with enrollment management firms like Datatel, and Inside Track, Inc.

He earned his MBA from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Saunders School of Business; and his master’s degree in counseling psychology and bachelor’s degree in English from St. Bonaventure University.

Founded in 1924, Nazareth College is located on a close-knit, suburban campus in the dynamic, metropolitan region of Rochester, N.Y. The College offers challenging academic programs in the liberal arts and sciences and professional programs in health and human services, education, and management. Nazareth's strong cultures of service and community prepare students to be successful professionals and engaged citizens. The College enrolls approximately 2,000 undergraduate students and 1,000 graduate students.
