Arts Center Gets $1.2 Million Grant From New York

Nazareth College recently received a significant grant that supports the growth of the College’s Arts Center. The $1.2 million grant was awarded from the Higher Education Capital Matching Grants Program (HE Cap) administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York. The HE Cap grant was used to help fund the Callahan Theater renovation portion of the total $10 million dollar Arts Center renovation.

Under the New York State program, started in 2005,  $150 million over five years has been available to help New York’s private colleges pay for construction projects that are considered critical academic facilities or that are related toe economic development, high technology, urban renewal or historic preservation.

Nazareth College Arts Center is the Rochester region's premiere mid-size theater and venue for world-class dance, children's theatre and international entertainment. The Arts Center brings to Rochester many of the same shows enjoyed by audiences at New York's Lincoln Center or the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. The 2010 Princeton Review names Nazareth College the 6th Best College Theater in the country (up from #9 in 2009.) The Nazareth College Arts Center is the home of Rochester Children's Theatre and the performance home of Rochester City Ballet and Garth Fagan Dance. For additional information, visit
