Spiritual and Folkloric Songs of Ukraine, April 20

Nazareth College’s Center for International Education is pleased to welcome various, local musical talents to perform a concert titled Spiritual and Folkloric Songs of Ukraine. The concert will take place on the Nazareth College campus in the Linehan Chapel, located in the Golisano Academic Center on April 20, 2013 at 6 p.m.  Featured performers include seven local Ukrainian and Slavic choral groups, two individual soprano performances as well as two duets. The concert is free and open to the public. In addition, a display will be up from April 15-26 outside of the Linehan Chapel featuring Ukrainian community religious, musical, and cultural artifacts. As part of the festivities, there will be a traditional Ukranian Pysanka demonstration on April 18 from 11:00 a.m-2:00p.m. in Caffe Sorelle (located in the lower level of the Golisano Academic Center). The concert will take place in celebration of the Center for International Education’s 10 year anniversary and the recent collaboration between Nazareth and the National University of Ostroh Academy in Ukraine. In addition, the concert honors the 10 year anniversary of Ukrainian Consulate Services and the 60 year anniversary of the Ukrainian Federal credit Union in Rochester, NY.

The following musical talents will be performing in concert: the St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church Choir, St Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Church Choir, Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church of the Epiphany Choir, Slavic Pentecostal Church Choir, Ukrainian Pentecostal Church Choir, Slavic Bible Baptist Church Choir, Ukrainian Academic & Folk Choir “SURMA”, Soprano Tania Beghini, Soprano Myroslava Borys, and duet performances by Lydia Dzus & Zinnia Dzus-De Bole, Girls Ensemble “MALVY” and Rev. Roman Sydorowych & Rev. Ihor Boyko.
