Former Bausch & Lomb CEO Speaks, Nov. 7

Nazareth College’s Casa Italiana is proud to announce Ronald L. Zarrella as this year’s speaker at the annual Mancini Lecture. The lecture will take place at 7 p.m. on November 7 at the Callahan Theater located in the Nazareth Arts Center, 4245 East Avenue, Rochester, N.Y., 14618.
Zarrella served at Bausch & Lomb as the company’s chairman and chief executive officer from 2001 to 2008. He also spent seven years with General Motors Corporation as executive vice president and president of General Motors North America in Detroit. He’ll discuss his experiences in the senior leadership of the two iconic companies along with strategies that led to expansive growth, the management of crises, and the decision making around some of the critical, long-term choices facing these companies. He will also share his views on the state of corporate governance, short-term thinking and the impact of Wall Street on American companies and the competitiveness of America in the global economy. Zarrella is influential among the Italian American population. He served on the board of directors for The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the heritage and culture of Americans of Italian decent. He is also currently an active member of the community serving on the board of directors for Committee for Economic Development in Rochester and the University of Rochester Medical Center, vice chair of the board at Rochester Institute of Technology, and is chairman emeritus of Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s board. He has also served on the boards of John Hopkins Medicine, Rochester Museum and Science Center and the Detroit Symphony.
The Mancini Lecture is supported by the Mancini Charitable Foundation, established in 1989 to honor the late Joseph Mancini, a Rochester industrialist and founder of the Casa Italiana. The program features Italians and Italian Americans who are leading public servants, industrialists, and statesmen.
