Nazareth Student Receives Eastern Analytical Symposium Award
July 9, 2007
Nazareth College is proud to announce that Collin Schrader, of Greece, was one of six students nationally to be awarded the 2007 Eastern Analytical Symposium (EAS) student award based on research accomplishments and potential as a chemical researcher.
The EAS Student Awards Committee recognizes scientific research by undergraduates involved in research in the broad field of analytical chemistry. Nominations include appraisals of how the students handle the investigations, approach the problems, and get involved in the projects. William Lammella, professor of chemistry at Nazareth College, nominated Schrader for his impressive research on a gas chromatographic-mass spectro (GC) method for determining resveratrol in grapes.
The Eastern Analytical Symposium and Exposition is held each year to provide professional scientists and students continuing education in the analytical and allied sciences through the presentation of symposia of papers, workshops, and short courses. In addition, an exposition of apparatus and supplies allied to these sciences is held concurrent with the symposia. EAS will be held November 12-15, 2007 at the Garden State Convention Center and hotel complex in Somerset, N.J.
Collin Schrader is a senior chemistry major at Nazareth College. Schrader was awarded an all-expenses-paid trip to attend the Eastern Analytical Symposium and Exposition in Somerset, N.J. this November.
