Nazareth and 360 | 365 Host Rochester Teen Film Festival

Nazareth College and 360 | 365 will present the 2010 Rochester Teen Film Festival, a collaborative, juried media competition for youth in the Rochester region on Wednesday, August 4. Eleven films produced by students from different urban, suburban and rural schools around the Rochester area will be shown on the main screen at the Little Theatre in downtown Rochester. Films include documentaries, narratives, animation, music videos, and experimental films.

“We received a number of submissions this year from students in our area and it’s energizing to see the vision they brought to their films,” said, Dr. Brian Bailey, assistant professor of education at Nazareth College and co-founder of the Rochester Urban Youth Film Festival. “It’s always exciting to showcase the stories and talents of Rochester area youth and we’re thrilled to share these films with the rest of the community.”

The screening of the Teen Film Festival is free and open to the community. It begins at 5:00 p.m. and a reception will follow in the Little Theatre café. All eleven films were selected by a panel of judges including local veteran film critic Jack Garner; 360 | 365 executive director John Richardson; 360 | 365 managing director Linda Moroney; as well as Dr. Laura Jones from Nazareth; Garth Freeman; and Rajesh Barnabas from RCTV.

360 | 365 grew out of the very successful Rochester High Falls International Film Festival. The 360 | 365 George Eastman House Film Festival (April 27 – May 2, 2011) captures both the birthplace of the art form and its cutting edge evolution. In recognition of its history, the 360 | 365 Film Festival focuses a portion of its programming on the achievements of women in filmmaking. However, the new Festival expands its programming with a wide range of films appealing to all audiences, age ranges, and personal tastes. In addition, 360 | 365 is a year-round conversation that includes short- and feature-length emerging filmmakers in its Shorts Contest and New Director Series.  360 | 365 interactively engages filmmakers and our audiences in education, discovery, and celebration through the medium of film in all aspects and directions, 365 days a year.
