Professional Connection

In our areas of professional study, students are connected with faculty and supervisors that have extensive "real world" experience.

  • retired public school teachers supervise the student teachers
  • practicing music therapists supervise clinical work
  • internships in the areas of music business and music history
  • master classes by internationally know guest artists
  • travel to professional conferences

Each degree program in the department challenges students to develop in their study of music, a chosen professional discipline, and the liberal arts.  The programs have an extensive set of requirements that gives students a solid foundation within each component. Students entering the department have competed against a wide range of applicants for acceptance and are eager to embrace the challenge that lies before them.

Note: students may not double major in music and music theatre.

International Opportunities

The Department of Music is ever expanding in its connection to international countries.  Summer courses in Austria and Italy, ensembles tours to countries like Poland, the Bahamas, and Mexico and developing relationships with schools in China have opened the boundaries of musicians enrolled in study at Nazareth.
