Nazareth College Piano Competition

The Nazareth College Piano Competition will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2013 in the Wilmot Hall of Music, Nazareth College. A registration fee of $30 (non-refundable) must accompany each application. The competition is open to all young pianists between the age of 11-18 years old. All previous "First Prize" winners may not compete until eligible for the next level.

Please make check payable to: Nazareth College Department of Music -- Piano Competition. Each contestant will be mailed a confirmation and an audition time by September 13, 2013.  All applications must be returned to Nazareth College, Department of Music, 4245 East Avenue, NY 14618 no later than 5:00 PM, Friday, August 30, 2013. Awards

    •   Senior Category: A cash prize of $150 will be awarded to the First Place winner. A $3,000 Nazareth College Piano Scholarship will be awarded to the First Prize winner upon application, audition and acceptance into the college and the Department of Music. Second Place winner will receive a $75 cash award.
    •   Junior Category: A cash prize of $150 will be awarded to the First Place winner. Second Place winner will receive a $75 cash award.
    •   Honorable Mentions will be awarded at the judges’ discretion.

    •   All awards will be presented at the Winners Recital during the Nazareth College Keyboard Forum on
Friday morning, October 5 in Wilmot Recital Hall. Repertoire performed in the Winners Recital must be selected from the Competition repertoire.

Senior  Category

    •   Ages 15-18 as of September 1, 2013
    •   Two memorized pieces — one by MacDowell and one by another composer in a contrasting style
    •   Maximum audition time will be 15 minutes.

Junior Category

    •   Ages 11-14 as of September 1, 2013
    •   Two memorized pieces — one by MacDowell and one by another composer in a contrasting style
    •   Maximum audition time will be 10 minutes.
