Steven Zugelder is a graduate of The Eastman School of Music, receiving his Masters and Undergraduate Degrees in Performance and Education.  He was a student of John Marcellus and Mark Kellogg.  While earning his Master’s Degree, Steven served as the studio teaching assistant where he conducted the Eastman Trombone Choir and taught trombone method courses.  Graduating in 2001, Steven continues to reside in Rochester and is an active performer and teacher.  Steven was the Principal Trombonist in the Opera in the Ozarks Orchestra, Eureka Springs, Arkansas, from 1996 through 1999.  He has performed with several orchestras including the Buffalo Philharmonic, Syracuse Symphony, Utica Symphony, Rochester Oratorio Society Orchestra and the Gregory Kunde Choral Orchestra. Steven is an active chamber music musician performing with the Plymouth Brass Quintet, the Wilmont Brass Quintet, Asbury Brass Ensemble and the Emerald Brass Quintet.  In addition to being a classical performer, Steven is a local jazz musician. He performs regularly in the Brad Batz Group, a local jazz septet, and several jazz big bands in the Rochester area, including Gap Magione, Nate Rawls, For Dancers Only and the Jack Allen Big Band.  In addition to teaching at Nazareth, Steven teaches private trombone lessons and coaches chamber ensembles at The Hochstein School of Music and Dance. Steven also teaches instrumental music in the West Irondequoit Central School District.
