Canadian-Korean pianist, Sarah Rhee-Tirré, has performed as recitalist and soloist with orchestras throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Her engagements include performances with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra(USA), Rome Chamber Orchestra (Italy), New Millennium Orchestra (Spain), Orchestra London (Canada) and Eastman Symphony Orchestra among others. She has captured numerous first prizes at the international level since the age of 9. Sarah is a top prizewinner of the Virginia Waring International Piano Competition, Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition, and 4-Time winner of the Canadian National Music Competition.
Sarah is an avid chamber musician and lecturer. She has served as Artist-in Residence at the Banff Center of the Arts in Banff, Canada, performing and recording piano-duo repertoire with pianist Monica Ohuchi. Solo and chamber performance venues have included Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall (New York), Ford Center for the Performing Arts (Toronto, Canada) and the Eastman Kodak Theatre. Most recently, she gave a series of master classes at Silpakorn University in Bangkok, Thailand.
Ms. Rhee-Tirré has held collegiate positions at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania as Assistant Professor of Piano and at the Eastman School of Music as coordinator and instructor of Piano Sight-Reading for undergraduate piano majors. She was also teaching assistant to world renowned pedagogue, Nelita True. Sarah has extensive teaching experience both at the collegiate and preparatory levels and is a regular adjudicator for local and state competitions.
Sarah Rhee-Tirré holds a Doctor of Musical Arts and Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music, where she was awarded the prestigious Performer’s Certificate, and Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from the Juilliard School. Her teachers include Nelita True, Julian Martin, Marc Durand, Yoheved Kaplinsky and Ronald Turini. Sarah currently resides in Rochester where she maintains a private teaching studio and serves on the faculties of Nazareth College, Eastman Community Music School and Hochstein School of Music.
