Biography:
Mary C. Carlson, Professor and Director of Graduate Music
Education in the Nazareth College Music Department, received her M.Ed.
and Ph. D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a
concentration in the areas of Music Education, Wind Conducting, and
Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. Prior to attending graduate
school Dr. Carlson taught instrumental music in Winnipeg, Manitoba,
Canada and completed the prestigious Calgary Conducting Diploma program
where she studied conducting with Frank Battisti, Eugene Corporon, John
Paynter, Donald Hunsberger, and Craig Kirchoff. In addition to
coordinating the Graduate Music Education program, Dr. Carlson's duties
at Nazareth include teaching undergraduate and graduate music education
courses, and supervising student teachers.
