Biography:
Jonathan began piano studies at the age of 8- four years after his mom started trying to get him interested in the piano. Since then he has been able to make music from Florida to Washington, and from Italy to Japan. He is currently pursuing a DMA at Eastman with Dr. Douglas Humpherys.
Some of his favorite musical memories include winning the first ever international piano competition for 5-piano ensembles in 1996, and again with a different group in 2005. In 1997 he won the solo competition and tied for first prize in the concerto division of the Young Artists' International Piano Competition at Eastman. He was admitted to Frederic Chiu's summer festival in Wabash, Indiana while still in High School. More recently, Jonathan attended the Martha Argerich Piano Academy at Lake Como as well as the Prague International Piano Master Classes.
Jonathan's favorite way to make music is in ensembles. He has been heard on the radio playing new music for two pianos, and has performed with the Eastman Composers' Sinfonietta, the Eastman Chorale, the Brigham Young University Men's Chorus, as well as in chamber groups with friends.
