Biography:
Dr. David Sommerville is a graduate of the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music where he worked with Professors Dave Headlam, Steve Laitz, Matthew Brown and Robert Wason. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate students at the Eastman School of Music, he has taught for the Eastman Community Music School, the Hochstein School of Music and Dance, and Georgia State University. Dr. Sommerville’s research interests primarily lie in two basic areas: the music of Alberto Ginastera and rock guitar heroes. He has presented research papers in both of these subjects at academic conferences in the U.S. and Europe.
