Biography:
Alexandra Shatalov is a committed educator and
oboist in the Rochester, NY area. She completed her Bachelor’s degree
with a major in Music Performance and a minor in Music Business at the
Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam where she was named a Presser
Scholar and a winner in the Crane Concerto Competition. She received
her Masters Degree in Oboe Performance and Literature at the Eastman
School of Music, studying with Richard Killmer, and was a certificate
recipient in the Arts Leadership Program. Alexandra is currently
continuing her studies at Eastman, pursuing the Doctorate of Musical
Arts. In Rochester, Alexandra performs with the Eastman Philharmonia,
Eastman Wind Ensemble, Musica Nova, The Wilmot Wind Quintet, The
Genesee Symphony Orchestra, The Greece Symphony Orchestra, and she is a
substitute in the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to
teaching at Nazareth College, Alexandra instructs oboe through the
Nazareth Community Music Program and the Eastman Community Music
Program. Alexandra has been a member of the AIMS Festival Orchestra in
Graz, Austria, the Banff Festival Orchestra, and she has attended the
Banff Masterclass Program for Strings and Winds, the National
Orchestral Institute, and in 2008 was a second-place winner in the
International Double Reed Society Young Artists’ Competition. Her
mentors include Anna Hendrickson, Richard Killmer, and Valentina
Shatalova.
