The Bach Children’s Chorus is widely regarded as the premier children's chorus in Rochester. It provides distinctive choral training with emphasis on foreign language and opportunities for the performance of classical and multicultural music. Founded by Karla Krogstad in 1989, the Bach Children’s Chorus has been acclaimed for its outstanding performances, clear diction and pure tone. It appears regularly with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rochester Chamber Orchestra, Mercury Opera Rochester and other area ensembles. The program specializes in significant repertoire of the 18th through 21st centuries, sung in a variety of languages. Chorus members rehearse weekly; small group rehearsals, in conjunction with a theory class, alternate with rehearsals of the entire ensemble.

The upcoming season will include performances with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in the annual production of The Nutcracker Ballet, and the Holiday Pops concert, the Rochester Chamber Orchestra’s annual performance of Handel’s Messiah and its spring concert, a performance singing the National Anthem for the Buffalo Bills, along with other performance venues in Rochester.

In addition, the Chorus traditionally makes a three–day tour during spring. The Bach Children's Chorus has performed in Bruton Parish Church in Colonial Williamsburg, St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, the National Cathedral in Washington, D. C., Old North Church in Boston, Cleveland and Toronto. This Spring, the chorus will be traveling to New York City, to perform in Carnegie Hall with the RPO in the Howard Hanson opera "Merry Mount."

Students qualify for participation in the Bach Children’s Chorus by audition, which occur on a rolling basis. Membership is open to girls and boys with unchanged voices. To request an audition, please contact the Chorus Director at bachkidsusa@yahoo.com or call 585-442-0800. More information about the Bach Children’s Chorus can be found at www.bachkidsusa.org.
