2012 Summer Piano Camp
2012 David Hochstein Recital Competition
Stuart Burtner, piano student of Dr. Bonnie Choi has won first prize in the David Hochstein Recital Competition in February , 2011. He will be performing in 2 concerts: one at Hochstein, date to be determined and the other at First Baptist Church on Allens Creek Rd. on April 20. He also received Honorable Mention in the NYSMTA Empire State High School Piano Competition held in Ithaca in October, 2011.
CMP Students won Junior All Star Competition in 2011
The Junior All-Star Competitions, a competition organized by the Greater Rochester Music Teachers Association is a competition for students born in or after 1994 whose performance level and quality of musicianship is competitive. The winners played in a Winner's concert on June 5 at Linehan Chapel.
Level I: David Munechika, Honorable Mention, student of Dr. Gary Fisher
Level II: Lauren Kim, 2nd Place, student of Dr. Bonnie Choi
Level III: Mia Gorczyca, 2nd Place, student of Dr. Bonnie Choi
Level IV: Stuart Burtner, 1st Place, student of Dr. Bonnie Choi
Piano Master Classes
Jonathan Vogtle, student of Dr. Gary Fisher and Stuart Burtner, student of Dr. Bonnie Choi both participated in a master class with Scott McBride during the Piano Pedagogy Workshop in June, 2011. The workshop was held at Nazareth College. Earlier in May, Mia Gorczyca and Stuart Burtner, both students of Dr. Bonnie Choi participated in a master class with Sean Duggan and Jonathan Mann in May, 2011.

Stuart Burtner (student of Dr. Bonnie Choi), a homeschooled sophomore was awarded Co-Runner-up.
Music Students Won Scholarships in 2011
Thirteen music students from greater Rochester were awarded scholarships and commendations from the Community Music Program at Nazareth College on January 23, 2011 in the Wilmot Recital Hall. The award recipients were chosen through a selective audition process held on January 16. The winners are among the most talented and committed young musicians in Rochester because a primary criterion to audition is a teacher’s recommendation in recognition of the applicant’s superior musicianship throughout the academic year. The scholarships and commendations are presented in the elementary, lower intermediate, upper intermediate and advanced levels.
Elementary Level
David Munechika, a piano student from Fairport, was awarded
First Place in the Elementary Level, and will receive a tuition aid
scholarship. David is the son of Cathy and Stacy Munechika. he attends
third grade at the Brooks Hill Elementary School. His teacher is Dr.
Gary Fisher.
Jonathan Lutzer, guitarist from Fairport, is Second Place winner
in the Elementary Level. He is the son of Carl and Christie Lutzer.
Jonathan is a fifth grader at Northside Elementary School and will
receive a tuition aid scholarship for his guitar studies at Nazareth
with Eric Carlin.
Guitarist Abby Feldman was awarded Honorable Mention in the
Elementary Level. She is a third grader at the Urban Choice Charter
School, and is the daughter of Jonathan and Alison Feldman of
Rochester. She studies guitar with Eric Carlin at Nazareth.
Lower Intermediate Level
Pianist Isabella Kunde is First Place winner in the Lower Intermediate
Level. She is the daughter of Gregory Kunde and Linda Wojciechowski of
Penfield. A third grader at the St. Joseph School, she will receive a
tuition aid scholarship for her piano studies at Nazareth with Dr.
Bonnie Choi.
Michelle Nguyen, a piano student from Pittsford, was awarded Second
Place in the Lower Elementary Level, and will receive a tuition aid
scholarship. Michelle is the daughter of Hiep and Thanhchi Nguyen. She
attends seventh grade at the Barker Road Middle School. Her teacher at
Nazareth is Barbara Noval.
Aedan Danehy
was awarded Honorable Mention in the Lower Intermediate Level. He is
the son of Craig and Beth. Adedan attends seventh grade at the Bay
Trail Middle School. His teacher at Nazareth is Eric Carlin.
Upper Intermediate Level
Diego Mejia, piano student of Dr. Gary Fisher at Nazareth,
was awarded First Place in the Upper Intermediate Level. He is the son
of Isabel Cordova of Brighton. He is an eighth grader at the Twelve
Corners Middle School, and will receive a tuition aid scholarship for
his piano studies at Nazareth with Dr. Gary Fisher.
Sam Ryckaert, a pianist from East Rochester, was awarded Second
Place in the Upper Intermediate Level, and will receive a tuition aid
scholarship. The son of Andy and Jennifer Ryckaert, Sam is a eighth
grader at the Allendale Columbia School. He is a student of Dr. Gary
Fisher at Nazareth.
Pianist Maeve Doyle of Fairport was awarded Honorable
Mention in the Upper Intermediate Level. She is the daughter of Peter
and Mary Jo Doyle, and attends the tenth grade at Fairport Hight
School. She is a student of Barbara Noval.
Advanced Level
Flutist Holly DeSmitt was awarded First Place in the Advanced Level. She is an eleventh grader at Fairport High School. Holly is the daughter of Steven and Betsy of Fairport. She will receive a tuition aid scholarship for her flute studies at Nazareth with Julie Oris Heikkila.
Mia Gorczyca, a pianist from Pittsford, was awarded Co-Second
Place in the Advanced Level, and will receive a tuition aid
scholarship. Mia is the daughter of John and Maria Gorczyca, and
attends eighth grade at the Barker Road Middle School. Her teacher
at Nazareth is Dr. Bonnie Choi.
Soprano Emily Camaione
was awarded Co-Second Place in the Advanced Level. She is a home
schooled senior and the daughter of Laura Camaione and Michael Pryce
of Pittsford. She will receive a tuition aid scholarship for her voice
studies at Nazareth with Elizabeth Phillips.
Honorable Mention in the Advanced Level was awarded to guitarist Ben Waara,
of Fairport. The son of Patrick and Christine Waara. He is a junior at
Fairport High School and he is a student of Mr. Jeffrey Miller at
Nazareth.

2011 Howard Hanson Award
Claire Cianca and Clark Hadley, students of Barbara Noval, have won the prestigious Howard Hanson Award for senior high school pianists, given by the Rochester Piano Teachers Guild. Auditions were held at Nazareth on Feb. 6. Claire and Clark will appear, along with eleven other winners, in a Winners Recital on Sunday, March 13, 7:30 PM, in Wilmot Recital Hall, Nazareth College.

CMP Piano Student performs with Gregory Kunde Chorale
Cory Kim, 13 yrs. old piano student of Dr. Gary Fisher, performed the first movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto in A major No. 12, with the Gregory Kunde Chorale Orchestra at the Hochstein School of Music on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010. Cory has been studying piano for 8 years. He is a middle school student in Victor, New York. As well as pursuing a deep commitment to music, Cory is an avid swimmer and tennis player. His parents are Choon and Roy Kim.
CMP Student selected in regional Soccer Team
Michael Gorczyca, a 10th grader at Mendon High School has been selected for the regional Olympic development pool in soccer in 2011.
