2013 Summer Piano Camp

 

Music Students Won Scholarships in 2013

Sixteen Rochester-area music students have recently won scholarship awards and commendations from the Community Music Program of the Nazareth College Music Department, as part of its twenty-first annual Scholarship Auditions, held January 13, 2013. Each participating student qualified by means of teacher recommendation, in recognition of superior musicianship demonstrated throughout the school year.  All of the winners were  presented recently in a public Honors Recital on Sunday January 20, 2013 in the Wilmot Recital Hall at Nazareth College.

CMP Students won Junior All Star Competition in 2012

The Junior All-Star Competitions, a competition organized by the Greater Rochester Music Teachers Association is a competition for students born in or after 1994 whose performance level and quality of musicianship is competitive. The winners played in a Winner's concert on June 3 at Linehan Chapel.

Level II: David Munechika, 3rd Place, student of Dr. Gary Fisher
Level IV: Mia Gorczyca, 2nd Place, student of Dr. Bonnie Choi

2012 Nazareth College Bach Piano Competition

Stuart Burtner, piano student of Dr. Bonnie Choi won 2nd place in the Nazareth College Bach Piano Competition in September, 2012. Mia Gorczyca, also a student of Dr. Bonnie Choi was awarded Honorable Mention.

2012 Ithaca Piano Competition 

Stuart Burtner, piano student of Dr. Bonnie Choi won Honorable Mention in the ithaca Piano Competition in September, 2012. 

Piano Master Class

David Munechika, Masasumi Yamakuchi and Seiya Yamakuchi, students of Dr. Gary Fisher; and Lauren Kim, Mia Gorczyca, students of Dr. Bonnie Choi both participated in a master class with Dr. Beverly Smoker  in May, 2012.

2011 David Hochstein Recital Winners

Stuart Burtner (student of Dr. Bonnie Choi), a homeschooled sophomore was awarded Co-Runner-up.


2011 Howard Hanson Award

Claire Cianca and Clark Hadley, students of Barbara Noval,  have won the prestigious Howard Hanson Award for senior high school pianists, given by the Rochester Piano Teachers Guild. Auditions were held at Nazareth on Feb. 6. Claire and Clark will appear, along with eleven other winners, in a Winners Recital on Sunday, March 13, 7:30 PM, in Wilmot Recital Hall, Nazareth College.

CMP Piano Student performs with Gregory Kunde Chorale

Cory Kim, 13 yrs. old piano student of Dr. Gary Fisher, performed the first movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto in A major No. 12, with the Gregory Kunde Chorale Orchestra at the Hochstein School of Music on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010. Cory has been studying piano for 8 years. He is a middle school student in Victor, New York. As well as pursuing a deep commitment to music, Cory is an avid swimmer and tennis player. His parents are Choon and Roy Kim.

CMP Student selected in regional Soccer Team

Michael Gorczyca, a 10th grader at Mendon High School has been selected for the regional Olympic development pool in soccer in 2011.
