"My time as a mathematics major at Nazareth has been crucial to my success. Every class increased my ability to problem solve, and I developed a very analytical attitude. This has enabled me the look at problems and issues from different perspectives. I truly believe that the way I was taught to analyze information and problem solve at Naz has been my biggest asset in my professional career. The Nazareth professors really challenged me to look at problems in different ways and find the answers on my own.  Understanding how to do that is a priceless attribute.

While at Nazareth I was part of the field hockey team and was involved in many clubs and committees.  This prepared me for life because I learned to work with many different people.  I also developed my leadership skills.  The skills I learned have given me the ability to work efficiently as part of a team and as a leader to achieve goals.  In my current position, I am very comfortable working with a team and taking on the role of project leader?

A piece of advice I would give current and prospective mathematics majors is to always keep searching for an answer. If you can’t figure out a problem, don’t just give up, do more research.  Reach out to others and problem solve together.  It’s amazing what happens when you get a bunch of math brains to together to try and find a solution.

Also, be a part of as much as you can while you are in college.  Try different clubs and committees; volunteers for events; take yourself out of your comfort zone. The Mathematics Department gave me so many opportunities to help me discover my strengths and weaknesses, which ultimately led me to a career I love"
