Due Dates and Fines
Books from the general collection are due on June 1st each year, and you will receive an email asking if you wish to renew them. These extended due dates do not apply to other categories of books or media, with exceptions made on a case by case basis.
Faculty and Staff do not incur fines, except when items are:
- billed and not returned.
- recalled and not returned.
Requesting New Materials
Faculty recommendations for library materials are an essential component to the success of our holdings. Each academic department has a different allocation from the library budget for materials and materials should be purchased at least one semester prior to their desired usage. Please direct all questions regarding purchasing of materials to the Acquisitions Librarian, Janet Smith. Any directions about journal subscriptions or electronic resources (databases), please contact the Library Director, Catherine Doyle.
Placing Materials on Reserve
Course reserves can be brought in person to the circulation desk, emailed to the reserve assistant Jennifer Rygiel. For clarity's sake and whenever possible, preference is to place electronic copies on reserve, as scanning print copies deludes quality.
Please adhere to all copyright laws and provide ample time for the reserve assistant to place items in the collection. Items received in the week prior to a semester will be handled as the requests arrive, and cannot be guaranteed to be uploaded by the semester start date. For any urgent additions to the reserve collection, please contact her directly.
Information Literacy Support
The Research and Instruction team is here to support your information literacy needs. Library instruction classes can be tailored to meet the needs of your students and the specific course focus. Additionally upon request, subject research guides (LibGuides) can be created and tailored for your specific class or subject. To schedule a library instruction class or inquire about a LibGuide, please contact Jennifer Burr, Head of Reference and Instructional Services.
While central photocopy services are located in Office Services, some staff and faculty may need to make photocopies after hours. The circulation desk does have some departmental charge accounts set up. However, if a department has not chosen to partake of the service, then you will have to pay for the copies out of pocket. The library is unable to provide receipts for copies made on behalf of departments and paid for independently.
Poster printing and lamination is done through Media Resources and they should be contacted directly.
Faculty and Staff can borrow books directly from other participating libraries in the Rochester area through the Rochester Regional Library Council's RRLC card program. With this program, you sign up for an RRLC card at the main circulation desk, and then use that card to check out books directly from participating libraries. This is distinct from the Interlibrary Loan program, which brings books from other libraries directly to Nazareth for your convenience.
The Interlibrary Loan and Serials staff has set up Document Delivery for faculty and staff. This means that if you want an electronic copy of a journal article or book chapter that is owned by Nazareth, simply put in a request through your ILLiad account and it will be emailed to you. For more information, please look at the document delivery page on the interlibrary loan's website.
A service for faculty members who would like to send their staff or student assistants to the Library to check out material on the faculty member's account. In order for the library to allow others to check out items for the faculty member, we need written permission to borrow on file. Permissions must be renewed annually.
