Fair Use Guidelines for Educational Multimedia
The Media Editing Lab is a specialized lab designed to support audio and video editing for Nazareth College educational purposes. The lab and related services can accommodate classes incorporating audio and video assignments as well as independent faculty, staff, and student projects.
Hardware and Software
The lab is equipped with 9 Macintosh digital editing systems. Each computer workstation supports a variety of audio and video formats and has Microsoft Office 2008, Final Cut Studio and iLife suite (iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand).
Access
Lab access is restricted to authorized users only. Faculty, staff, and students interested in using the lab are required to submit a proposal prior to receiving a login and password for editing lab computer use. Student proposals require an instructor’s approval. Class use of the lab must be arranged one semester in advance allowing sufficient time for Media Resources staff to work with faculty or academic departments in planning technical requirements and preparing services. The number of workstations and time-consuming nature of editing may limit how many proposals are approved for a given semester. Therefore, prospective users are encouraged to submit proposals as early as possible.
Support
The lab is not staffed and there may be times when assistance is not immediately available. In general, assistance will be available 9am to 6pm Monday through Friday, and limited evening/weekend hours. It is highly recommended that users check on the availability of assistance, if needed, prior to arriving at the lab. Training and support may also be scheduled with Media Resources staff. In addition, Media Resources staff provide workshops and in-class presentations.
