Belize: Nursing Service Program

Dr. Marie Bell with residents of Octavia Waight Centre

Spring Break in Belize

Start planning now for next year!

General Program Description

The Nursing Department sponsors a service-learning project in Belize over Spring Break. Students and faculty have the opportunity to work with the residents of Octavia Waight Centre, a nursing home located in San Ignacio.  Under the supervision of faculty, students conduct home health assessments, develop care plans, provide health promotion education and participate in support of residents’ recreational activities.

There is also time to explore the various cultures of Belize with such activities as visiting the Mayan ruins, the Belize Zoo and Butterfly Farm or an adventure on a zip line outing!
