Study Abroad in Cumbria

University of Cumbria

The University of Cumbria has campuses in Carlisle, Newton Rigg, Penrith, Ambleside and Lancaster in addition to a specialty teacher education centre in London.  Nazareth College offers students the opportunity to study in Carlisle and Lancaster.  These are lively, student-friendly cities with a lower than average cost of living.  The campuses are compact and situated within walking distance of the city centres, with access to easy transportation links to London, Scotland, and Ireland.

The University of Cumbria offers student-centered learning experiences while utilizing the latest technology; this high-quality instructional approach enables students to achieve their personal and professional potential wherever they study.  The University works closely with employers, schools, colleges, and agencies in the region to offer research and scholarship to support social, cultural, and economic development in local communities. The University of Cumbria produces graduates that are creative, resourceful, and well-equipped for leadership opportunities in their future careers and in their communities.

Cumbria is home to the Lake District National Park and is considered one of the most beautiful areas of the United Kingdom.  The area has provided inspiration for generations of British and foreign artists, writers and musicians, including Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth.  A large part of the county is mountainous, with the highest point of the county (and of England) being Scafell Pike.  With breathtaking views of lakes and mountains, and a variety of historic sites to visit, Cumbria welcomes the opportunity for others to experience their heritage and the charm of their homeland.
