Nazareth College is one of only seven U.S universities that are hosting summer undergraduate student leader institutes in conjunction with the Academy for Education Development (AED) in Washington, D.C., and funded by a grant from the United States Department of State, Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs.
The institute will immerse you in American politics, economy, and culture, while helping you learn how to become a leader. You will learn through a combination of in-class lectures, seminars, and discussions, with experiential learning to integrate both theoretical and practical knowledge. You will develop your own insights about the United States, which you will share at the end of program. Some of the areas we will cover include:
- U.S. government and politics
- U.S. business and economics
- U.S. culture and society
- the role that individual citizens play in shaping all of the above through community service and political participation.
You will participate in the program at Nazareth College in Rochester, New York, from June 28 through July 29. Your time in Rochester includes field trips to New York City, New York’s state capital in Albany, and a home-stay visit with an American family. You will complete your visit with a trip to the nation's capitol, Washington D.C., and will return home from there.
