Field instruction is one of the most valuable and exciting aspects of the Social Work program. The purpose of field instruction is to link what you have learned in the classroom with practice experience in the work place. Unlike the limited experience involved with a single internship, you will be spending an extended amount of time in a wide range of practice settings, gaining the experience you need for a career in social work after graduation. Through field instruction, you will broaden your abilities and understanding of social work and improve your readiness for social work as a career.

• In your junior year, you will complete a field experience of six hours a week, totaling 144 hours.
  
• In your last semester at Nazareth College, you will receive the most intense and rewarding field instruction experience by working in a human service agency four days a week for a minimum of 440 hours.
