The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to improve the health of people worldwide through leadership and scholarship in practice, education and research. Founded in 1922, the honor society currently has 134,000 active members in more than 90 countries. Members include practicing nurses, instructors, researchers, policymakers, entrepreneurs and others.
Nazareth's Pi Psi Chapter was founded in 2000 and has more than 100 active members. Our annual activities include educational programs with continuing education credits, induction of new members, formal banquet, silent auctions and research day. We give an annual scholarship and other awards to deserving nursing students.
Membership
Membership is by invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, and to nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing. Pi Psi’s annual induction ceremony occurs each fall, honoring a distinguished group of nursing students and professionals who have met or exceeded rigorous standards and have demonstrated the ideal qualities of a leader and a scholar.
