Creative Arts Therapist at the Jewish Home of Rochester
Statement from Robert Whiteside:
" I have had the privilege to be the Creative Arts Therapist at the Jewish Home of Rochester/Jewish Senior Life for over a Decade. The Majority of my work is with the Senior Population of our Community who has come to our home needing additional assistance with their everyday lives. I also receive assistance from Nazareth Graduate Creative Arts Therapy Students whom I supervise as part of their curriculum.
My task lies in the realm of Quality of Life Issues, best described as being a guide to illuminate the path our residents have come upon. These situations may be as subtle as dietary choices to identity loss. I utilize the Creative Arts in helping to bring purpose to lives, re-establish their identity and self esteem, and enabling our residents to express themselves freely and creatively to better understand these day to day questions as they arise.
I continue to be a studio artist exhibiting in galleries in numerous one person as well as group shows. I currently spend my time between my Studio and being a Servant Leader in the professional world."
Bob will be awarded the prestigious Art Therapy Alumni Award 2013 this spring at our annual thesis show.
