This clinic provides services for school-age children who demonstrate writing and reading difficulties related to language. It provides assessment as needed and an individualized program that focuses on the child’s area of need.

Potential Clients

The clinic assists children and adolescents who are struggling with listening, phonemic awareness, spelling, word identification, reading comprehension, and written expression.

Session Schedule

The clinic offers 50-minute weekly sessions. Sessions follow the Nazareth College semester schedule and may occur in an individual or a small group format, depending upon client needs and clinic scheduling factors. Schedules for therapy are completed prior to the start of each semester. Evaluations are scheduled throughout the semester.

Student Clinicians

Therapy services are provided by students in the communication sciences and disorders and graduate speech-language pathology programs. All therapy is supervised by faculty certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and licensed by the New York State Office of the Professions.

Referrals

Clients are referred to the clinic from any number of sources, including current clinic families, other clinics and clients, case managers, physicians, social workers, teachers, and community speech-language therapists. A current speech-language evaluation and/or progress report must be available. Arrangements for evaluation can be made through the clinic if needed.

Eligibility and Fees

The clinic offers affordable services to families. Please contact the clinic for the current cost of service. A sliding fee scale is available.

Location

The language and literacy clinic is found on the Nazareth campus in Carroll Hall. The clinic space is handicap accessible.
