    Alumni Spotlight

    SpainKristin Keefe de Thouars ’94
“I chose Nazareth because I wanted fluency, and I got it. The foreign languages department gave me so much more than just a solid foundation in languages. It was also my first taste of a real multi-lingual and multi-cultural work environment.”

    Why Choose Nazareth for Spanish?

The study of Spanish at Nazareth College is an immersive experience. At the heart of the program is The Casa Hispana, a lively place where students and community members enjoy films, conversation, art exhibits and a variety of events relating to the culture of Spain and the Latin American countries. The casa also houses the offices of the Spanish program faculty, a library, and classrooms.

Study abroad is required of all language majors. Our program is in Valencia, Spain in collaboration with the Institute of Spanish Studies in Valencia. While abroad, students gain proficiency in the language and grow from the multicultural experience of living and studying in a foreign country. Back at home, students also have an opportunity to do service learning work with Spanish-speaking migrant communities through our course Border Cultures: Mexico and the United States.

    Program Highlights

    • In addition to Valencia, Nazareth College has study abroad programs in Chile and Peru.
    • Award winning faculty; small classes.
    • The wide range of Spanish courses and variety of cultural experiences offered at Nazareth College prepare students to meet personal and professional goals.

    Casa Hispana

The Casa Hispana is an active place where majors, non-majors, and community members enjoy films, conversation, art exhibits and a variety of events relating to their shared interest in the culture of Spain and the Latin American countries.
