Dean of the School of Education – Job Description and Requirements
The Vice President for Academic Affairs invites applications for the position of Dean of the School of Education, for a term beginning January 1, 2014, and ending June 30, 2015. This recruitment offers the opportunity to lead and help shape the vision and strategic direction of the SOE, and to build upon a history of success and a foundation of social justice, equity and inclusion.
The SOE Dean provides leadership and guidance in all aspects of the School, including teaching, research, intellectual development, program development, advancement, administrative management and representation of the SOE outside the College.
Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and a member of senior administration, the Dean is expected to promote the best interest of the SOE and to ensure that the goals of the SOE are aligned with and supportive of the Nazareth College Mission and Strategic Plan.
Appointment with tenure in the School of Education.
1. Earned doctorate and a record of increasingly responsible leadership and supervisory experience in higher education
2. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, program development and evaluation of teacher education
3. Demonstrated expertise in budgeting and resource development to achieve strategic objectives.
4. Successful teaching experience in higher education and teacher education
5. Evidence of effectively fostering application of cutting-edge learning theories and methods.
6. Demonstrated success with innovative program design and implementation of programs at the Master’s and certificate levels
7. Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, and advocacy skills.
8. Evidence of successful collaboration and partnerships with external and internal stakeholders;
9. Awareness and understanding of outcomes and assessment-based education, active learning, and learner centered instruction.
10. Demonstrated experience and understanding with regulatory and accrediting bodies.
11. An established record of publications and research and scholarly presentations.
12. A commitment to social justice, equity and inclusion.
