Speak Out

Every January, the Nazareth College community comes together to celebrate the life of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. Nazareth's MLK Commemoration Committee, made up of students, faculty and staff, chooses a theme that is reflected in the day's events, lectures and remembrances.

This year's theme, Speak Out!, represents the campus community's concern with a pattern of exclusion and judgment of others that is happening in the U.S. and around the world rather than including and connecting with each other in - as Dr. King would say - a "beloved community."

The MLK Commemoration Committee chose the poem And Then They Came for Me by Martin Niemoller to represent this year's theme of Speak Out!
