The Steering Committee
The first step in the process was to establish a Steering Committee, whose job it was to ensure that the final plan is a product of a process that is open and inclusive, reaching out to all members of our community. The role of the Strategic Planning Steering Committee was that of an advisory team for the process. It was not responsible for making recommendations of strategic goals, or prioritizing the goals. Rather, the Committee was responsible for facilitating the process. Committee members represented a wide variety of sources, including the Faculty Executive Committee, Senior Staff, the Staff Welfare Committee, alumni, and trustees. The members of the Steering Committee were:
- Dave Allen, Graduate Student
- Daan Braveman, President and Chair of the Steering Committee
- Lynne Boucher, Director of Campus Ministry
- Colleen Brennan-Barry, Assistant Director, Marketing and Communications: Web Communications
- Pamela Douglas, Multicultural Recruiter, Human Resources
- Kimberly Felton, Secretary, School of Education
- James Feuerstein, Professor and Chair of Communication Sciences and Disorders
- Patricia Genthner, Associate to the President, ex officio committee member
- Brian Hickey, Chair, Nazareth College Board of Trustees
- Laura Jones, Assistant Professor of Graduate Literacy Programs
- Lindsay Korth, Professor of Theatre Arts and Chair of FEC
- Heidi Northwood, Associate Professor and Chair of Philosophy
- Lynn O’Brien, Associate Professor of Chemistry, and Director of Freshman Seminar
- Bernadette Rall, Prospects Coordinator, Undergraduate Admissions
- Nancy Shadd, Alumna and member of the Alumni Advisory Board
- Cassandra Thompson, Undergraduate Student

Goal #1 Committee
December 2006 – present
Strategy 1.1 of the Strategic Plan states, “The President will appoint a committee to recommend specific strategies to clarify Nazareth’s identity.” Since the need for campus wide discussion regarding identity was discussed throughout the first year of the process at meetings of the steering committee, it was determined that this group will remain intact and continue with the work of strategies 1.1.1, 1.1.2, and 1.1.3. Membership of the committee has changed to include additional trustees: Susan Acker, Daan Braveman, Lynne Boucher, Colleen Brennan-Barry, Pamela Douglas, James Feuerstein, Patricia Genthner, Brian Hickey, Seana Holtz , Laura Jones, Lindsay Korth, Heidi Northwood, Lynn O’Brien, Bernadette Rall, Patricia Schoelles S.S.J., Nancy Shadd, Cassandra Thompson, Monica Weis, and Leo Yballe.

She was director of the Pew Higher Education On-Campus Roundtable and worked with campuses across the country on strategic planning. She has also worked as a consultant for the national consulting firm of Marts and Lundy.
- James Galbally spent over 25 years at the University of Pennsylvania where he was associate dean in charge of strategic planning and operational management at the Dental School. He was on the faculty of the Wharton School’s Management Department, the Graduate School of Education’s division of higher education and the Dental School’s Department of Dental Care System.
