The competition is intense. The words are hilarious. Let the
spelling begin! The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a
comical tale about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming
cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they
can stand
out and fit in at the same time. The delightful songs
and sparkling lyrics by William Finn coupled with Rachel Sheinkin’s
high-caliber book make these young spellers buzz with anticipation
while we are reminded of the angst and exhilaration that makes growing
up so wonderful. This production is rated PG-13.
