This mini-conference will provide insights on opportunities and challenges encountered by people from refugee backgrounds in the U.S. The objective of the conference is to encourage living, teaching, and working across differences. There will be viewing of the documentary Welcome to Shelbyville at noon (GAC 38), followed by a panel discussion led by local people from refugee backgrounds. At 4:15 p.m. (in Medaille Lounge) there will be a workshop on effective teaching strategies for people from refugee backgrounds.
