Merve Nur Sari, a former Study of the U.S. Institute (SUSI) student at Nazareth College, will be singing classical Turkish songs as well as American jazz numbers in a special concert at Nazareth College’s Linehan Chapel on Friday, September, 23 at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public and co-sponsored by Center for International Education and the Turkish Society of Rochester.
Sari, from Istanbul, Turkey, will be singing while accompanied by piano, kanun and darbuka (traditional Turkish instruments). The musicians are from the Turkish Society of Rochester. Following the concert, there will be a reception with refreshments and Turkish desserts.
Sari has been performing with TRT National Turkish Radio and TV since 2005. She studied at Nazareth College in the summer of 2008. Afterwards, she graduated from Halic University in Istanbul, Turkey. Continuing her education, Sari received a master’s degree in business administration from Yeditepe University in Turkey. Currently, she is working as a project development assistant at Yeditepe University.
