Using Biotechnology: How Do Academic and Industrial Scientists Compare?

Differences between academic and industrial science are sometimes obvious and sometimes subtle. Similarities include the types of scientific questions asked and the reason behind experimental design and execution.  In contrast, industry and academic scientists often have slightly different reasons for asking those scientific questions.

A presentation will be made demonstrating the use of technology to address questions relevant to various aspects of cancer, angiogenesis and immunology. The advantages and disadvantages of using technology will be discussed with a view towards helping undergraduate scientists think about an academic or industrial career path.

Kris F. Sachsenmeier Senior Scientist - Preclinical Oncology MedImmune, LLC An Astrazeneca Company Refreshments will be served.
